Advizzo and Portsmouth Water are partnering on an innovative new project to help customers save water.

The project will involve 20,000 households in the Portsmouth Water area and will use a mix of digital engagement and customer data to promote water efficiency.

It will allow customers to monitor exactly how much water they are using and compare their usage with others in their area.

Advizzo’s innovative behavioral science approach will mean messages are tailored to each customer, putting them in the best position possible to make the necessary changes to reduce their water usage.

Ranked the top water company in the country for customer service by Ofwat, this project is part of Portsmouth Water’s continued commitment to engage and support its customers.

If successful, the project will be rolled out to all Portsmouth Water customers. The company also wants to utilize its customer data to gain a better understanding of its customer base and their consumption habits. This will help Portsmouth Water to drive improvements in demand planning.

Julien Lancha, Chief Customer Officer, Advizzo comments:

“More and more organisations are using SaaS solutions to strengthen their operations and meet their business objectives. Our SaaS platform and behavioral science and data science-based approach to customer engagement will help motivate Portsmouth Water’s domestic customers to reduce their water consumption and enrich the organisation’s understanding of its customers.”

Bob Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, Portsmouth Water, said:

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Portsmouth Water and our customers and we are delighted to be partnering with Advizzo on this innovative, new project.”

“There is no “one size fits all” solution to saving water and we anticipate this science-based approach will make it far easier for our customers to change their habits and reduce their water usage.”

“Climate change and a growing population means the need for water efficiency is more important than ever. We look forward to seeing how the project progresses and its future potential for helping our customers save water.”

Established in 1857, Portsmouth Water supplies water to a population of 735,000 people across an 868 square kilometer area that extends through South East Hampshire and West Sussex.

The company prides itself on its high standards of customer service and was ranked the UK’s best water company out of the country’s 17 water companies by the regulator Ofwat’s Customer Measure of Experience (Cmex) 2020-21 results – which measures the quality of services delivered to household customers.
